Description

Helichrysum Bract. Tom Thumb (Laurin) Mixed (Helichrysum bracteatum)

Papery petals: Actually modified bracts, not true petals

Lasts for years: Dried flowers keep color indefinitely

Easy to dry: Simply hang upside down

Eternal Flowers

Strawflowers are nature’s dried flowers – the papery “petals” (actually bracts) dry naturally on the plant and keep their vivid colors for years. They are essential for dried arrangements and wreaths, providing color when fresh flowers are unavailable.

The Drying Secret

Timing: Cut before flowers fully open – they continue opening as they dry.

Method: Strip leaves, bundle stems, hang upside down in a dark, dry place.

Wiring: For flexibility in arrangements, insert wire through the center before drying.

Colors Available

Strawflowers come in vibrant yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, and white. The colors remain intense even after years of display. Mix colors for stunning dried arrangements.

Growing Tips

Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Full sun and well-drained soil are essential – they dislike wet conditions. Plants reach 60-90cm tall. Cut frequently to encourage more blooms.
