Heritage & Fascinating Facts
Corn was domesticated in Mexico 9,000 years ago from a grass called teosinte. It cannot survive without human cultivation – the seeds cannot disperse naturally. Every silk strand connects to one kernel.
How to Use Sweet Corn Golden Bantam
Culinary: Wonderfully versatile – eat fresh, dried, ground into flour, popped, or made into grits. Sweet corn should be eaten quickly after harvest as sugars convert to starch rapidly.
Traditional & Medicinal: Provides energy from complex carbohydrates. Corn silk is traditionally used as a diuretic tea for urinary tract health. Contains lutein and zeaxanthin for eye health. Blue corn has more antioxidants.
