Homemade Vanilla Pudding

This vanilla pudding recipe is simple and produces a rich, creamy dessert. The quality of the vanilla you use makes a noticeable difference in the final result.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 liters whole milk
  • 3 heaped tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (Vanilla planifolia)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons vanilla sugar
  • 150 ml raw sugar
  • 2 heaped tablespoons butter
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients except the egg yolk in a pot.
  2. Heat the mixture while stirring constantly.
  3. Bring to a boil while continuing to stir. The pudding will begin to thicken.
  4. When the pudding has thickened, remove the pot from the heat.
  5. Quickly stir in the egg yolk. Mix well to distribute it evenly throughout the pudding.
  6. The pudding is now ready.

Serving Suggestion

Pour the pudding into deep bowls. Sprinkle a thin layer of sugar on the surface while the pudding is still warm. Some people add fruit syrup, but the pudding is also good without any additions.
