This is a traditional family recipe for a simple bread made without yeast. The bread has a crisp crust and a soft interior. It is best eaten on the day of baking but can also be used the following day.
Ingredients
- 5 cups wheat flour (Triticum aestivum)
- 5 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2–3 cups water (adjust as needed)
Instructions
- Mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl.
- Add the water gradually and stir until a smooth dough forms. The amount of water may vary depending on the flour.
- Transfer the dough to a greased loaf pan.
- Bake at 200°C for 60 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Test with a wooden skewer. The bread is done when the skewer comes out clean.
