Mugwort was one of the nine sacred herbs of the Anglo-Saxons. It was believed to protect travelers and was placed in shoes to prevent fatigue. The name “mugwort” comes from its use in flavoring beer before hops.
How to Use Mugwort
Culinary: Traditional flavoring for fatty meats like goose, duck, and pork. Essential in German and Eastern European cuisine. The young leaves can be used in salads. Key ingredient in moxibustion.
Traditional & Medicinal: Classic womens herb used to regulate menstruation and ease cramps. Used in moxibustion (burning near acupuncture points) in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Digestive bitter that stimulates appetite.
