Lathyrus Latifolius Mxd (Lathyrus latifolius)
Perennial sweet pea: Returns year after year
Vigorous climber: Covers fences beautifully
Less fragrant: But much longer lived than annuals
Everlasting Sweet Pea
Perennial sweet pea offers the beauty of sweet peas without annual replanting. The vigorous vines return year after year, covering fences and arbors with pink, white, or magenta flowers throughout summer.
Annual vs. Perennial
While annual sweet peas are more fragrant, perennial types are much easier – plant once and enjoy for years. The flowers are slightly smaller but produced in abundance over a longer season.
Growing Tips
Full sun to part shade. Provide sturdy support – vines can reach 2-3 meters. Very hardy and long-lived once established. Tolerates poor soil. Can spread; site appropriately.
